So, I (Tony) want to try a truly collaborative meal this week. It's also a take on a southern family tradition for me. We will plan on making a really big pot of chicken and dumplings (the way my Grandma taught me). We'd like everyone to pick one or more item from below. We'll have some chicken and vegetable stock already heating, so things will be ready to throw into the pot as you arrive with them. It will take only about 10 minutes to cook.
Here's the list for the pot:
4 lbs of cooked chicken breast, diced, strips, or shredded
2 medium diced onions
2 cans or 1 bag of peas
2 cans or 1 bag of sliced carrots
3 cups sliced celery
*We will be providing the stock, dumplings, and seasonings.
*We will also have a second smaller pot for a vegetarian/vegan version
In addition to the list of ingredients you could choose to bring from above, please consider bringing one of the following:
a green salad
a dessert item
bread (french, cornbread, rolls?)
drinks
an additional side or two, if everything else is spoken for already
Please let everyone know whether you'll be able to attend, and what you are planning to bring.
This sounds delicious! I love chicken and dumplings! I will bring the chopped onion and celery and peas. I'm excited!
